Choir Conducting Masterclass

Tõnu Kaljuste (EE), known particularly for his work with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, comes to Tampere to give a masterclass in choir conducting. The teacher in residence is Markus Yli-Jokipii, Lecturer in Choir Conducting at the Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The rehearsal choir is the Festival’s visiting professional group, the Vancouver Chamber Choir.

The observing students on Friday are also welcome to follow the dress rehearsal of the  Masterclass Concert at 16.00.

Apply for Masterclass

The masterclass is principally intended for choir conducting students. Six participating students will be selected on application. The course fee is EUR 100 for participating students. The observing students are also welcome to see the dress rehearsal at 16.00. Students must cover their own travel, accommodation and meal costs. Participating students must be able to attend the entire course on both days (15–16 Jun 2023).

Applying to join the masterclass as a participating student has ended. You can join the course as an observing student by buying a ticket (15 €/day). The observing students on Friday are also welcome to follow the dress rehearsal of the  Masterclass Concert at 16.00.

Arvo Pärt: Prayer after the Canon (from Kanon Pokajanen)
Arvo Pärt: Magnificat
Veljo Tormis: Curse Upon Iron
Cyrillus Kreek: Blessed is the Man (Õnnis on inimene)
