The evening starts with the joint performance of Janis Siegel and Jukkis Uotila. Janis Siegel, who is a member of the jury in the Contest for Vocal Ensembles this year, is a nine-time Grammy winner. Over the past four and a half decades, her voice has been an undeniable force in The Manhattan Transfer’s diverse musical catalogue. Jukkis Uotila is a drummer, pianist, composer and the first professor of jazz music in Scandinavia. He was awarded with the Yrjö Award, The most prestigious prize given to jazz musicians in Finland, in 1991, and he is also known as a pioneering Finnish jazz pedagogue.
